My story goes all the way back to Ft. Benning, Georgia. It was April, 2003, and I was attending Basic Training at the US Army School of Infantry (OSUT). Although I grew up in southern Mississippi, and was always running around the woods, I never learned a thing about field craft or survival. The field training in the Infantry taught me most of that. Later, I deployed to Baghdad Iraq, and then again to Ramadi. During my time as an Infantryman and Sniper Team Leader, I learned many things about tactics, survival, field craft, and just how to get along when the times are tough.

Around 2013, after a deployment to Afghanistan, and dealing with severe PTSD, I began visiting family in the beautiful mountains of northern California. It was there that I rediscovered my passion for the outdoors, and began rebuilding my life around my love for the wilderness, as well as teaching people. Combing my amazing experiences in the Army, and my passion to educate facilitated the drive to begin making content for like-minded individuals.

Grunt Proof is not just a gear channel. It is a mentality: take care of your gear, and yourself! I hope to bring you guys on many adventures with me, teach you many skills and techniques that you may have never seen, and have a lot of fun in the process. In addition, we will also be "Grunt-Proofing" gear, and holding companies to their marketing claims of "military grade, tactical," and every other buzz word they try to use. Above all, we will all learn a thing or two, while enhancing our love for the outdoors. Also be sure to check out the competition and show that I created, known as the SERE Challenge HERE, as well as the open training events and full-blown GRUNT ACADEMY, HERE.

Carry on!
